Jarod's modus operandi thus far has been
to collect newspaper stories. The Centre will attempt to
establish a correlation between his selection process and
his movements to predict his next location. By scanning the
local and national press for stories which may interest him
we hope to zero in on his location. Mr. Raines brought in
Centre Psychogenic Project #0023, Angelo, to help on the
Jarod Project. Currently, the Psychogenics Department has no
official classification for Angelo's abilities. He has
seemingly no personality of his own nor an ability to make a
moral judgment, yet exhibits a sponge-like power to absorb
personality data on others. Broots' search information on
Jarod indicated he was in either Pennsylvania or West
Virginia. Angelo's clipping search narrowed down to reveal a
place called the Borodin Smokehouse in Pittsburgh. Centre
received confirmation that Jarod had been there recently.
Team dispatched to Pittsburgh and discovered Jarod had been
at the SmokeHouse under the name of Vronsky. Additionally,
the team learned that another man had also come by inquiring
about Jarod, and he was given the red notebook. Later,
Broots finds clipping of Jarod in the Pittsburgh Chronicle,
hailing him as hero fireman. Jarod is tracked to Fire House
#16, and a coordinated assault was ordered. Jarod was
nowhere to be found, but inside the fire house lay a friend
of Miss Parker's on the floor nearly unconscious with his
face bleeding. Miss Parker had thought her friend Michael
Patrick was a pharmaceutical salesman, though he had been
working for Mr. Raines and the Centre.
The red notebook retrieved at Jarod's lair revealed
clippings with headlines: "Tri-River Warehouse Fire
Claims Local Fire Fighter." "Fire Fighter Tamara
Copeland Killed in the Line of Duty" "Fire
Fighters Mourn one of Their Own." Numerous empty cans
of aerosol cheese-like product were found in the space.
Posing as a firefighter in Pittsburgh, Jarod uncovered the
truth behind the arson death of firefighter Tamara Copeland,
who died in a warehouse fire while trying to save Arson
Investigator John Zimmerman. Jarod uncovered evidence that
Zimmerman had been in league with the corrupt battalion
captain Nick Harrigan in an arson insurance scam. Harrigan
had rendered Copeland unconscious during the blaze and then
ordered firefighters not to save her to cover up the scam.
Jarod enacted revenge by gaining a confession from Harrigan
by temporarily trapping him in a fire inside his home, built
with money received from the scam.
