Sweeper teams tracked Jarod to Seattle, Washington where investigations revealed he was learning how to swim at the local YMCA. Interrogation of YMCA manager revealed Jarod had left days earlier, his destination unknown. Another red notebook was found at YMCA with news clippings: "Nuclear Disaster Averted" "Family of Contaminated Worker to Receive Millions." According to reconstruction, Jarod posed as an atomic engineer and averted a cataclysmic accident. Jarod also left a set of handmade paper dolls for Miss Parker. The cut-outs were two faceless figures holding hands, a woman and a little girl. A teardrop had been drawn on the face of all the little girls. Technician Broots brought in to help track Jarod, and a phone trace on a telephone call from Jarod to Sydney revealed he was in San Diego. Team dispatched but Jarod narrowly escaped.
Another red notebook was discovered in San Diego. Clippings inside revealed information about Jarod's latest quest for justice: "Man Lost at Sea" "Wife Voices Frustration with Coast Guard Search" "Drowning Ruled Accidental." Posing as a lieutenant in the Coast Guard, Jarod exposed two rogue officers who caused a fisherman's death during their smuggling operation. Jarod discovered that several Coast Guard officers had been smuggling drugs. They accidentally rammed a fisherman's boat and left him to drown rather than have their operation discovered. Jarod's investigation revealed the mysterious drowning as murder, and the Coast Guard officers, Lt. Commander Paul Bilson and BM1 Javi Padillo, were indicted. Other items discovered at Jarod's San Diego lair: a DSA dated 4/13/70 addressed to Miss Parker taped to plastic dog excrement; other various novelty items were discovered throughout apartment. Also discovered was a painting depicting a close-up of Miss Parker as young girl with a tear rolling down her cheek. Note: Jarod's clues taking on a more personal toner
